"Rising to the Sustainability Challenge in the Agri-Food Sector: Perspectives from New Zealand and France"

By : Laurence Tubiana and Sébastien Treyer
Paris 12th of October 2011

A seminar organised by IDDRI and the New Zealand Embassy in France.

Location
:

Cinéma des Lumières, Hôtel Le Royal Monceau, 37 Avenue Hoche, 75008 Paris

Presentation :

The agri-food sector is being increasingly challenged to demonstrate its sustainability credentials. This seminar will debate the nature and magnitude of the sustainability challenge, and how it is being tackled in both New Zealand and France, including through collaboration at company and industry levels. Are the current approaches to develop consumer awareness and responsibility schemes sufficient? What scope is there for improvement within supply chains? Are there new, more sustainable business models to explore? New Zealand and France are both significant actors in the global agri-food sector, with New Zealand being one of only two countries in the world to export more than half its total food production and France the second largest exporter of agricultural products.

NOTE : Seminar by invitation only (mandatory registration before October 3, 2011)
