The 2009 Amsterdam Conference on the Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Change (IHDP) will take place in Volendam (near Amsterdam) on 2-4 December, just before Copenhagen COP15. The conference will be an inaugural conference of the Earth System Governance project, which is expected to last for the next decade as one of the major project of IHDP.

Norichika Kanie, who is a member of the Conference Steering Committee, will be the chair of a panel dévoted to Bilateral and Multilateral Financial Institutions and Climate Governance.
