Dr. Chris Bataille is an associate researcher on climate and energy policies at Iddri. He has been involved in energy and climate policy analysis for 18 years.
In addition to his work with IDDRI, he is a founding senior managing partner of the Vancouver energy policy consulting firm Navius Research Inc., an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University, and board member and co-chair of Ecotrust Canada. Prior to helping found Navius, he was executive director of MK Jaccard and Associates Inc. for 5 years. He has managed dozens of projects over the years, including several large national climate change and energy policy studies.
In cooperation with Carbon Management Canada, he is currently working on an international study sponsored by the United Nations to assess the feasibility and cost of restraining global temperatures increases to +2C, involving a 90% reduction in Canada’s GHG emissions by 2050 to hit a global budget of 1.67 tonnes per capita. In addition to his contracted work, Chris has published peer reviewed articles in The Energy Journal and Climate Policy, co-wrote a chapter of the most recent International Handbook of Energy Economics, and has written a number of public policy publications, including "Pricing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: The impact on Canada’s competitiveness" for the C.D. Howe Institute.
