Strategic project

The year 2015 saw the international community make historic commitments to sustainable development, particularly the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by the UN General Assembly in September, and the Paris Agreement on Climate in December at the conclusion of COP21. These commitments must now be implemented and transcribed into domestic policies, investment plans, etc.

It is in this context that IDDRI has developed its strategic project for the period 2016-2020. This project aims, firstly, to renew IDDRI’s capacity for anticipation and influence on the “major environmental agendas”, which has been at the core of the Institute’s activities since its creation.

 

This objective translates into the focusing of IDDRI’s monitoring, intelligence and forecasting capabilities on 4 permanent “programmes”:

 

Secondly, the project also aims to reinforce IDDRI’s capacity to respond to these challenges by intervening in a focused way on a limited number of levers considered relevant over a specific period. This is reflected in the choice of “initiatives”, which have an average duration of three years each.

 

For the period 2016-2020, the strategic initiatives aim at:
