Benjamin obtained Master's degrees from Ecole des mines de Paris, Sciences Po and the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. He successively worked for cement companies in the field of corporate social responsibility, the United Nations Environment Programme in New York, and a microfinance institution in Madagascar and Senegal.
He joined IDDRI in May 2008 to work on adaptation to climate change.
