Marcos ank, is the President of the Brazilian Institute for International Trade Negotiations (ICONE) and Associate Professor of International Economics and Trade Policy at the School of Economics and Business of the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2001/02 he served as Special Expert of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington DC. A former Special Counselor to the Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry, and Trade in 1999, he was also a visiting scholar at Georgetown University (School of Foreign Service) and at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is author or coauthor of over 170 publications and has conducted 350 presentations throughout Brazil and around the world. He is also a regular writer for the newspaper "O Estado de São Paulo" and publishes articles in the Brazilian magazines Veja, Época, Exame, and in the newspapers "Valor Econômico" and "Folha de São Paulo." He holds a B.Sc. degree in agronomy from USP, a M.Sc. in Agricultural Policies (France), and a Ph.D. from the School of Economics and Business at USP.
