Johan Kuylenstierna is Chair of the Swedish Climate Policy Council, an independent expert body that assesses the extent to which the government's overall policy is in line with the climate target of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, and an adjunct professor at Stockholm University.
From 2012 to 2018, Johan was the Executive Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), a leading international think tank on environment and development challenges.

Johan has previously worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Stockholm International Institute, and as a consultant in the field of environmental management, business rationale processes and sustainability. 

He has a background in earth sciences and his research focuses on paleoclimatology (polar regions).
