The Ocean Programme at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), based in Paris, is offering a 6-month paid internship to provide research and support to exciting projects on ocean governance.

Responsibility

The internship will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to support IDDRI’s Ocean Team on ocean governance and marine conservation, especially in relation to the ongoing negotiations concerning the High Seas and the post-2020 biodiversity framework. The successful candidate will:
•    Review scientific and grey literature;
•    Conduct interviews;
•    Attend relevant webinars;
•    Contribute to the development and delivery of expert meetings and conferences;
•    Monitor relevant negotiations and international developments;
•    Prepare notes, analysis and contribute to the drafting of policy briefs;
•    As required, provide additional support to the Ocean team and its projects.

Required qualifications

•    Undergraduate qualification in a relevant field;
•    Knowledge and understanding of key ocean governance issues;
•    Fluent in English;
•    Excellent research and writing skills;
•    Motivated, able to work independently and use own initiative;
•    Strong analytical skills.

Location and contract

The successful candidate will be offered a 6-month internship contract (35 hours per week) from January to June 2021. Depending on the health situation, she/he will work from home and/or at IDDRI’s offices in the heart of Paris (Saint-Germain-des-Près). IDDRI offers:

  • A monthly stipend of €1,100
  • Subsidised restaurant tickets (60%)
  • Subsidised public transport (50%)
