This blog post, first published September 4, 2023, was written as part of the work of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Initiative on the elaboration of national development pathways and their importance for climate action that is both tailored to countries' specific circumstances and concerted at international level. This dual need is at the heart of the preparation of the Global Stocktake, particularly for African countries.
