Presentation
Drawing on two dynamic dialogues, this Note provides timely insights into advancing equitable climate action amidst global uncertainty.
Discussions tackled critical areas, including navigating political frontiers and effectively mediating the necessary-but-disruptive conflicts arising from the shift to net zero emissions. They also explored ideas to fund structural transformations, diversifying economies towards both low emissions and high employment. Furthermore, participants recognised the key role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in fostering green economic transformation and job creation. The dialogues explored equity in adaptation, how to make visible choices and their equity implications, and exploring approaches that address climate risks and structural inequalities. To ensure discussions were grounded in reality, site visits were incorporated, including to an urban regeneration initiatives in Barcelona and the Atlantis Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) in South Africa
These dialogues, bringing together diverse strategic thinkers for active co-creation, expanded the concept of just transitions to a people-centred political and economic agenda. The resulting proposals—described as ‘good ideas that can make a difference’—offer practical pathways, to advance truly equitable climate action globally.
