Mireille Razafindrakoto is Director of Research at the French Research Institute for Development (IRD), a member of the UMR DIAL (Joint Research Unit of the IRD and Paris-Dauphine University), and Chair of the Scientific Sectoral Commission of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the IRD (2012-2015).
She is an economist, statistician, a graduate of ENSAE (ENSAE-CESD, Paris) and Doctor of Economics (School of Higher Studies in Social Sciences, EHESS-Paris). Her research on development economics focuses on the labour market, poverty and inequality, and governance issues.
She worked in Madagascar (1994-1999) and Vietnam (2006-2011) as part of research programmes conducted by the DIAL-IRD team (she was the scientific coordinator of the latter). She has substantial experience in designing and analysing surveys on the living conditions of the population, employment and the informal sector, as well as on governance indicators as part of her research activities and partnership with institutions in developing countries.
