29 October 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
An event organized by Cleantech for Europe, Cleantech for France, IDDRI and Sciences Po
Long a global industrial leader, Europe now risks falling behind in the face of global competition, particularly from powers that have made a clear choice to invest heavily in transition technologies, such as China and, until recently, the United States.
Faced with these aggressive strategies, Europe must answer a key question: do we want to continue to be players in the transition, or do we resign ourselves to becoming consumers of a boom that is happening elsewhere? Are we going to produce the technologies of tomorrow here, thereby transforming our economy to create jobs and build our energy sovereignty, or are we going to import equipment manufactured elsewhere on a massive scale, at the cost of new dependencies and economic decline?
However, a new generation of players is ready to change the game: cleantech. Industrial start-ups, investment funds, large groups, researchers and local authorities are building low-carbon factories, inventing new industries and already creating thousands of jobs throughout France at the heart of the regions.
The challenge now is to maintain a long-term decarbonisation trajectory in Europe, to scale up and industrialise technologies. And to do that, we need a general mobilisation – economic, political and civic.
This event at Sciences Po aims to bring together the energies and voices in favour of a new industrial narrative: those of students and researchers, entrepreneurs and investors, activists and decision-makers.
