Geopolitical tensions, climate-related crises, and the rise of artificial intelligence are reshaping and intensifying global economic interdependencies. The challenge is not to disentangle these interdependencies—a process that would likely prove both costly and illusory—but rather to manage them more effectively, so that national strategies do not result in collectively suboptimal outcomes.
Under the French G7 presidency in 2026, two priorities took center stage: reducing global imbalances and reforming development finance through mutually beneficial partnerships. In this context, Think7 (T7), which brings together more than 50 think tanks from G7 countries and beyond, put forward practical recommendations across four areas: industrial policy coordination, the future of development finance, economic security, and the governance of innovation and artificial intelligence.
