The whole document, available on the websites of Blue Plan and MAP, relies on works managed by Blue Plan and its Mediterranean partners about the promotion of a sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean as proposed by the Mediterranean Strategy for the sustainable Development, as on the implementation of recommendations adopted by the contracting Parties in 1999.

After a synthesis of the regional workshop held in July 08, this document analyses selected transverse issues: climate change, biodiversity, yachting and cruising and employment and creation of wealth. Then, through six national studies, its presents a complete review of progress made since 1999, documenting successes and challenges.

The results of these regional and national studies, elaborated by Mediterranean experts in the field, were discussed during a regional workshop held in Sophia-Antipolis in July 2008 and have conducted to identify the recommendations and avenues to be explored in the near future.
