Benoît Martimort-Asso was Director Development and Communication of IDDRI, which he joined in 2004 to be in charge of the "International Environmental Governance" programme.

Prior to joining IDDRI , he coordinated with Sophie Thoyer the SUSTRA project, a European multidisciplinary network on the links between trade and sustainable development. From 1996 to 2002, he worked in Canada on projects related to the treatment and the diffusion of environmental information for French-speaking countries at the Global Ecopolitic Observatory (UQAM, Canada). He worked as consultant for various ministries in France and in Canada, NGOs, research centres and private companies.

Engineer (University of Perpignan, France), Benoît Martimort-Asso obtained a post graduate diploma in Environment and Prevention (University of Montreal, Canada), a master degree in Environmental Science (UQAM, Canada) and had completed the academic part of political science PHD program at UQAM.

After having worked on the climatic changes convention and its links with transport, environmental impact assessment, Local 21 Agenda, the Cartagena Protocol, he presently focuses on the environmental issues in international relations.
