Elise Dufief is research fellow in the Sustainable Development Governance Programme. She works on various development related topics such as the governance of sustainable development, the implementation of sustainable development goals, as well as financing for development issues with a focus on the role of development banks.
Elise holds a PhD in political science with a focus on contemporary Africa from the EHESS and Northwestern University. Her work focused on the relations between Ethiopia and international donors such as the EU in the context of governance activities and election monitoring.
Before joining IDDRI, Elise worked at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on EU development policy (in the context of the negotiations of the EU development work for 2021-2027 and the post-Cotonou agreement) as well as in Mali on governance issues. Previously, she was also the Research and Monitoring Manager on aid transparency programmes in a London-based NGO.
