The Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB) and IDDRI are organizing a seminar of discussion and reflection following the fourth plenary of the IPBES (Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services).

Overview:

The fourth IPBES plenary, held from 22nd to 28th February 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, which had a particularly intensive work programme, included the adoption of the first IPBES reports for decision-makers, as well as some clarification of its work programme for the years ahead (in particular which assessments will be conducted, and which postponed). The purpose of this seminar is twofold: to offer an insight into ongoing events and to initiate a thought process on the current and future work of the IPBES, in particular as regards its role in promoting biodiversity, an issue that has not been directly tackled in debates.
