An intervention by Alexandra Deprez at the meeting " EU Think Tank Platform for Paris 2015, TT2015 ", which brings together teams from the following think tanks: CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies), Iddri, SWP (German Institute for International and Security Affairs), IES (Institute for European Studies), E3G (Third Generation Environmentalism), PISM (Polish Institute for International Affairs). Alexandra Deprez participates in the round table discussion between TT2015 members.
Overview
On the evening of December 12th, COP21 came to a successful conclusion with the adoption of the Paris Agreement. In the run-up to Paris, the members of TT2015 held numerous events on how Europe could benefit from a strong agreement in Paris, and the role of the EU in developing it.
In this closing event of TT2015, we will reflect on the COP21 outcome, together with key EU negotiators. We will ask our speakers to comment on what the implications are for EU climate and energy policy, as well as on international climate policy going forward.
The members of TT2015 will reflect on how the outcome compares to their thoughts as outlined in the joint TT2015 paper “Paris 2015: What’s in it for the EU?”, focusing in particular on topics such as EU soft power, climate action, transition of the energy system and carbon markets.
