Presentation :
Until now, eight governments have made commitments to end the sale of fossil fuelled vehicles – with deadlines ranging from 2025 to 2040. The plummeting costs of electric vehicles (EVs), similar to renewables, make them a technology where we can afford to go further and faster to support the goals of the Paris Agreement. But who is leading the way? Which policies are effective and which are not? How is the necessary charging infrastructure being financed? And what are the implications of EVs for power grids and employment? This event will take the form of a ministerial keynote address from a government leading the way on electric vehicles, followed by facilitated discussion on key issues for the growth of electric vehicles, and closing with an audience Q&A.

Yann Briand’s intervention will provide an analytical perspective on future trends and prospects for EVs (falling costs, grid integration, volumes required to meet CO2 targets, etc).
