IDDRI took part in a side event on fast-tracking the implementation and financing of coastal and marine nature-based solutions with a view to adaptation to climate change. This side event highlighted the need to combine investment sectors and to develop clear and precise revenue streams in order to facilitate financing for climate change projects based on marine ecosystems, for example mangroves.

During this side event, IDDRI specified the role and importance of ocean solutions to address climate change and called for the development of innovative financing to implement these solutions.

Clear investment opportunities & revenue streams are needed to make commercial opportunities & value creation in the coastal natural capital economy possible. By combining investment sectors (i.e. marine data technology innovation), bankable coastal ecosystem projects (e.g. mangroves) can be created. Jean-Pierre Gattuso will deliver a presentation on "Ocean solutions to address climate change and its effects on coastal and marine ecosystems".
