The Institut du Développement Durable et des Relations Internationales (IDDRI) and the Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) are organising a European Dialogue on the Energy & Climate Challenge (the European Dialogue) to assist in the development of an integrated EU energy, climate change, and finance strategy building upon the recent European Commission proposals on energy and post-2012 climate change. The project brings together senior energy, climate, and finance policymakers from the European Commission, EU Member States, industry, non-governmental organizations, and academic/think tanks.

The first meeting of the Dialogue has been held the 29-30 March in Madrid. The second meeting of the Dialogue has been held in Venice, Italy in early June. The third meeting will take place in early November. Subsequent meetings will be held through the end of 2008.

During this second meeting Hubert Kieken and P.Criqui presented a communication on Energy and Emissions Pathways for Europe
