Objectives

The IPCC Special Report on "Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate", aims to make an inventory of scientific knowledge since the last IPCC Assessment Report published in 2013/14 (5th Assessment Report), on the consequences of climate change, from the modification of physical and chemical processes to the impacts on ecosystems and societies.

The report also aims at giving an overview of possible responses.

This scientific report, which will be approved in its final phase by the member governments of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will be published in late 2019.

Alexandre is Lead Author of Chapter 4: "Sea level rise and implications for low lying islands, coasts and communities".

Jean-Pierre Gattuso, associate researcher at IDDRI, will contribute as Coordinating Lead Author of Chapter 1: "Framing and Context of the Report".
