A session of the Seminar on Sustainable Development and Environmental Economics

Reid Hall - from 12.30pm to 2pm

COP22 is currently taking place in Marrakech in a context marked by the entry into force of the Paris Agreement on 4 November in record time and the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States four days later. This makes the challenge for COP22 even greater: to lay the foundations for a critical mass of countries to start effectively implementing their national contributions by 2017-2018.This is based on three specific expectations: progress in capacity building, adaptation and financing; a clear deadline for the closure of technical negotiations in 2018 to pave the way for the political phase in 2020; and advances in the implementation of the initiatives of non-state actors.

Teresa Ribera and IDDRI’s Climate team are looking forward to meeting you to discuss the assessment of the achievement of these objectives, and to propose the next major steps for climate action that can meet the required level of ambition.

These presentations will be followed by a debate with the audience.
