Glen Wright will participate to this workshop by the Secretariat of the Nairobi Convention in partnership with IUCN which aims to present the results of the Seamounts project funded by the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) and the Marine Spatial Atlas for the Western Indian Ocean (MASPAWIO) project funded by the French Aid Agency (AFD) to the WIO countries. The session is organized pursuant to the Eighth Conference of Parties to the Nairobi Convention Decision CP 8/6e on support to conservation and sustainable exploitation of seamount and hydrothermal vent systems of the South West Indian Ocean in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction and collaborate in the management of activities in their adjacent waters.
