The Future of Coal Project is a 2 year, multi-country project for research and policy dialogue, aimed at supporting a just and orderly phase-down of coal in major coal-using economies in order to mitigate climate change and other externalities of coal use. The Future of Coal Project includes research teams from France, UK, Germany, Poland, Australia, South Africa, India and China.

The objective of the project is to conduct research and policy dialogue on the issue of managing the transition within the coal sector in major coal using economies, as is required if climate change is to be successfully limited to 2C.

September, 19th: 1st Project Meeting

September, 20th: Stakeholder Workshop, which objective is to, firstly, present and receive feedback on the concept and work-programme of the project ‘Coal Transitions: Research and Dialogue on the Future of Coal’. Secondly, it is to listen to and discuss a number of stakeholder presentations on issues of relevance to the project.
