Within the framework of a thesis conducted in partnership with CERI, IDDRI developed analyses of Chinese agricultural policy in order to understand the political economy of choices governing the trade-offs between different objectives: food security for strategic products, trade balance, resource scarcity management, employment and rural development, food safety, nutrition... This analysis focused on the consideration of international trade in these public policy choices, and on public policy formation processes between central government and provinces.
