Why building energy retrofitting is not taking off

• The building sector is responsible for 28% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, two-thirds of which are indirect emissions (heating, lighting, ventilation, etc.).
   
• Although not sufficiently exploited at the moment, it is crucial to carry out energy retrofitting in order to reduce indirect GHG emissions.
   
• If energy retrofitting is so slow to be implemented and massively implemented, it is because it lacks both real public ownership and support from real estate.
   
• We are on an encouraging trajectory, but it is not yet possible to meet the long-term objectives: energy retrofitting must therefore truly become a new social norm.
