The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) organise a high level round table in order to reflect on the role of public banks in financing the energy transition, with the special participation of Jean-Pierre Jouyet (Director General, CDC) and Laurence Tubiana (Director, IDDRI).

Context:

European Member States are faced with multiple challenges. Exiting the economic crisis is the highest priority, by creating jobs and inclusive growth, and strengthening competitiveness. At the same time, energy consumption and production must be modernized and decarbonized, in order to ensure continued energy security, affordable energy, and the achievement of the EU’s climate change goals. These considerations are central to the on-going debate on the energy transition in France, and in Europe more broadly.
